CHILD Perfume

If I had to choose one must-have for the holidays, it would be CHILD Perfume. Each bottle is hand-poured
by creator Susan Owens and is made in limited quantities. The white jasmine-based perfume oil lasts for ours. I can’t recall the times that I am stopped by strangers asking me what am I wearing.

“Our philosophy is the power of three: the brows, the skin plus revitalization and that equals beauty,” is their philosophy. Ireife and Eye are certified estheticians and also have a talented team on board to pamper you.

BS StudioGetting Perfect Brows

We went to two local eyebrow experts (Ashley Perkins of Holiday Salon and Radya Ireifej of The Brow & Skin Studio) for tips on creating enviable eyebrows.

Eyebrow Do’s

Do understand the different shapes of eyebrows:

Curved – A soft angle tapering off at the ends will emphasize the curves of your face, so avoid this shape if you already have a round face.

BS Studio                                     Angled – A hard-angled brow balances a strong jaw line and is perfect for women with a square
 face shape.

Rounded – A half-moon above the eye will complement a lovely heart-shaped face.

Flat – A nearly straight line, this shape helps minimize a long face or a large forehead.

Do determine the eyebrow shape that will most flatter your face. Use this handy guide
as a reference.

Round – Go for a high arch to help create a more oval face.

Square – Flatter a strong jaw with equally strong, angled brows.

                                                      Heart – Play up
BS Studio the curves of your face with softly rounded brows.

Long – A flat brow will help stop the eye from moving up and down the face. A flat brow is also a good
choice if you want to take attention away from your forehead.

Oval
– Lucky lady, this is the most desired face shape and thus isn’t affected by the shape of the
brow.

Do look for salons that use a hard wax instead of one requiring muslin or cloth to be removed. Ashley Perkins notes “a hard wax adheres better to the hair follicle.”

Do try threading, an ancient eastern technique where hair is removed with an intricate web of string.

For DIY brows, Do listen to the experts. Radya recommends “good lighting and professional tools.” We like the japonesque line of tweezers and eyebrow groomers.

Do use a white pencil to outline your brow and create a guide for plucking, says Ashley.

Do use slant-tip tweezers and only pluck one hair at a time. “It is best to take less – you can always go back to balance,” reminds Radya.

Do include your eyebrows in your daily makeup routine. Ashley suggest using a taupe eye shadow and a slant-tip eye shadow brush to fill in brows.

Eyebrow Don’ts

Don’t be afraid to let your eyebrows grow in. Full, natural eyebrows are becoming more popular and were seen on all the runways.

Don’t ever wax your own eyebrows, cautions Ashley. “It takes professionals years to master the technique.”

Don’t pluck your eyebrows every day. Radya recommends brow upkeep on a weekly basis.

Don’t ever pluck above your eyebrows; instead, groom the area with a product like Japonesque’s Precision Brow Groomer. This handy tool is also great for grooming on the go.

Don’t forget to apply a calming product like aloe vera to reduce any redness or swelling.

Don’t forget to set your brows with a setting product like Bobbi Brown’s Brow Shaper or clear mascara.

BS StudioHow To Do A Facial At Home

Add a touch of luxury and pampering to your day with an at-home facial to get your skin revitalized and glowing. We’ve asked five of Orange County’s top estheticians to offer their expertise (and let us in on their favorite products) to help you get your best skin ever. What better way to renew and refresh this spring?

Apply a Masque
You can purchase a wide variety of masques for every type of skin; look for clay-based masques, which contain sulfur, an ingredient that draws out impurities from the skin. For dry or more mature skin, search for a cream based masque for hydrating. Leave the masque on for 10 to 15 minutes, simply letting it dry on your face. Be sure to use a warm towel or a shower to remove the masque. Try this anywhere from twice a week to once every two weeks. Sylvia Ireifej from the Brow & Skin Studio recommends the Vita Plus masque for its mixture of vitamins A, C and E. It is easy to apply and eliminates dull skin.
